Domain Name Registration
Applicants are requested to use the online domain name search engine to check the availability of a domain name. If the domain is available and the registrant is an individual, a photocopy of his/her identity card or passport should be submitted to the .cy Registry prior the registration. If the registrant is a company or organisation, a photocopy of the certificate of registration / incorporation and a written registration request is required.
 
Domain Name Renewal
Invoices for renewal are sent to the predefined Billing Contact in December every year.
 
Domain Name Transfer
A domain name can be transferred to another Internet Service Provider or a DNS provider, by either the Domain owner or the Administrative or the Technical predefined contact. A Domain transfer could be requested through email or fax. Email requests are most commonly used and the procedure is the following:
 
After the Registry receive an email transfer request will return back to the applicant by confirming this email. The Applicant should resend to the Registry altering and/or deleting anything from the body of the message. As soon as the reply received, the Registry will proceed with the transfer.
 
Termination or cancellation a domain name
A registration or an application for issuing a License to use a .cy Domain Name could be cancelled by the Owner of the Domain who should give to the Registry a notice in writing to proceed with the cancellation and the removal from the database.
 
Changing contact details of a domain name
Unless specified otherwise, all changes and modifications are free of charge. All communication with the Registry can be in the form of email messages unless specified otherwise. 

 

	Change of the details of the administrative contact. Only the registrant is authorised to alter the details of the administrative contact.
	Change of the details of the billing contact. Only the Registrant and/or the administrative contact is authorised to change the details of the billing contact.
	Change of the details of the technical contact. Only the Registrant and/or the administrative contact is authorised to change the details of the technical contact.
	Change/Add/Delete name server information outside an ISP. Only the registrant or the administrative contact is authorised to modify the name service support of the domain name servers outside the current ISP.
	Change/Add/Delete name server information within an ISP. The technical contact of the Domain Name is authorised to change, add or delete the IP addresses and the servers within the same ISP.
	Changes on the Domain Name itself. No changes can be made to the name of an existing Domain Name.

*On any .cy registration through us there is an extra €35 service fee that includes DNS and web hosting for one year.

 

Issuing a Domain Name Certificate
A domain name registration certificate can be issued upon an electronic request or in writing.
 
Restricted Registration
The .cy TLD is granted only to citizens and/or permanent residents of Cyprus or to companies / organisations that are registered under the Cyprus law.
